How Short-Form Content Has Impacted Lead Generation for Local Businesses

Over the past few years, short-form content has proven itself to be one of the most valuable avenues to break into, especially if you are an upcoming small business or looking to generate more local leads.

One of the most important components of building a business is being able to ensure your clients are being one thing – nurtured.

It’s imperative that you are able to build a stronger connection over time, because without it, you’re just another number among the thousands of people that are seeing you every day.

I interviewed a few people about this subject, and what they had to say was extremely revealing.

Thalia Lรณpez Barba – Marketing Specialist

“Short-form content has become a game-changer for local businesses, allowing brands to cut through the noise and capture attention in just a few seconds.

Itโ€™s not just about being quick, thoughโ€”itโ€™s about creating a connection that feels authentic and engaging, which is why it’s thriving on platforms where users crave genuine, snackable content that drives real action.”

Ryan W. McClellan, MS – Senior Marketing Manager

“With the advent of short-form content comes long-term responsibilities. The fact is, attention spans are shrinking, and this can be used as a staple for lead generation. The days of long lead magnets such as lengthy eBooks and whitepapers are over! The new methodology is to produce content that can hook a viewer in the first 3-5 seconds, and then maintain that attention for around 2-3 minutes.

Include a CTA 1/3 into the video, graphic, or document, then sporadically use less promotional verbiage throughout. This will increase the number of leads – given you keep their attention long enough. ALWAYS remind them of the CTA at the very end.”

Yanyn “Yany” San Luis – CEO of The Win Woman

“Short-form content has significantly boosted lead generation for local businesses by offering quick, digestible information that grabs attention in a crowded digital space. Its ability to convey value in a concise format helps businesses connect with potential customers more efficiently, leading to faster engagement and conversion.”

Kevin Sanchez – Freelance Videographer/Cinematographer

“I believe that short-form content is an absolute gamechanger nowadays for getting more leads online. This has worked well for me in my videography and personal training businesses, as when I post videos of me working on my craft, people reach out to me from there.

It’s almost like building a sense of credibility over time.

The more people see of you, the more likely they might be to buy what you have to offer”.

Michel Medina – CEO of Kavana Kava Bar

“Short-form content has impacted Kavana by drawing in local crowds from surrounding bars that see the environment and like it.

They want to participate in the activity and see what we have to offer.

I feel that short-form videos have been really helpful for us in gaining new leads.”

What We’ve Learned from This

Ultimately, based on my experiences speaking with these individuals and my experience using short-form content to build my own brand (and the brands of others), it’s quite clear that this has become one of the hottest mediums to branch into at the moment.

The difference between short and long-form content is massive, as short-form allows companies and brands to quickly and simply disseminate what they’re about, without the need for commitment from people to sit down and watch say a ten-minute long YouTube video.

It’s important to just start – even if it’s via using a simple feature like the TikTok Greenscreen.

Just getting your voice out there is enough.
